Social and Civic Whirl: Join The Urban League In Empowering Communities/Changing Lives
On Saturday, November 7, 2015 the first 2016 Healthcare Insurance Enrollment Fest – Kick Off will take place at the Boo Williams Sportsplex, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. located at 5 Armistead Pointe Parkway in Hampton. The next Enroll Fest will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., on November 14, 2015, at St. Paul Baptist Church at 806 Lincoln Avenue in Suffolk. Green Run High School in Virginia Beach is the location for the third Healthcare Insurance Enroll Fest is scheduled for November 16, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m.
During each one of these healthcare insurance enroll fest, there will be information on affordable health care. You may also enroll in a health care plan; and get on site screenings and more. A bonus for persons with health care credentials there will be employers hiring – BRING YOUR RESUME.
Several informative workshops are scheduled for November. November 10, 2015 is the date for a FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CLASS from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Huntersville Recreation Center located on Goff Street in Norfolk. Information about this class can be obtained by calling (757) 673-0851. On Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. a FORECLOSURE GROUP WORKSHIP is scheduled. A FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS WORKSHOP will be held on November 14, 2015 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and KEYS TO FINANCIAL STABILITY FORUM will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.. All three of these workshops will be held at the Urban League Office located at 5700 Thurston Avenue/Suite 101 in Virginia Beach. For more information call (757) 673-0851.

Second Calvary Baptist Church located at 2940 Corprew Avenue will be the venue for a panel discussion on the ways or strategies that the community can engage to help SAVE or BRIGHTEN THE FUTURE of OUR INSTITUTION of HIGHER LEARNING – NORFOLK STATE UNIVERSITY. The community MUST COME TOGETHER for the sake of OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
The doors of Second Calvary Baptist Church will open at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 and the panel discussion will begin at 7 p.m.
