New Provost, VP For Academic Affairs At Texas Southern

HOUSTON, TX
Texas Southern University in Houston has selected Kendall T. Harris as its new provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Harris began his tenure at Prairie View in 2005 and became dean of the College of Engineering in 2007. He will begin his new job at Texas Southern on Jan. 1.
“Dr. Harris brings a wealth of experience and will help us enhance our academic programs and research efforts. We are glad to have him on our team that is dedicated to serving faculty, staff and students,” said TSU President Austin A. Lane.
Harris also served as associate professor and associate chairman for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.
Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Kansas, and a master’s and a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the University of Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the Naval Aviation Officer School as a U.S. naval officer and aviator.
His research has been published in publications such as the Journal of Electronic Packaging, the Journal of Porous Media and the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer.
