NAACP Family Recognized For Life Memberships

BIRDNEST, VA

The Northampton County Branch NAACP held its Annual Freedom Fund Scholarship Banquet on October 16, 2015 at the legendary Giddens Do Drop Inn Restaurant, Weirwood, VA. The Guest Speaker for the evening was Lt. Governor of Virginia, the Honorable Ralph S. Northam.

Life membership plaques honoring The Legacy NAACP Life Member Family were awarded to the Terry Family by Mrs. Jane Cabarrus, President of the Northampton County Branch NAACP.

Pictured left to right holding their life membership plaques: Reginald Terry, husband and retired School Counselor and Coach; his wife, Joyce Terry, Retired High School Counselor; their grandson, Gabriel Mclendon, 5th grade student attending Landstown Elementary School; their daughter, Dr. Nequai Terry-Mclendon, Doctor of Physical Therapy and her husband, Eric Mclendon, Retired Lt. Commander/Navy. A special plaque in Mr. Terry’s right hand was awarded to Reginald and Joyce Terry for their support of NAACP programs and activities throughout the years.

Miss Ashanti Mitchell was the Recipient of the L.D. Britt Scholarship. Ashanti is a 2015 Graduate of Broadwater Academy and is currently attending the Eastern Shore Community College majoring in Associate Science with plans to continue her education at Old Dominion University.
