Marriner Moments: What’s Love Got To Do With It? – Part IV

By Pastor Melvin O. Marriner
Grove Church

February is the ‘month of love.’ Many of us will spend time searching for that perfect, tangible expression of love for our significant others. Truth be told, while we go out of our way to show our love on Valentine’s Day, far too often we take our love relationships for granted. We do the same with God. As Christians, our lives, actions and priorities should reflect our love for Christ.

This month’s theme, “What’s Love Got to Do With It?” is a reminder that our love for God is not about religion; it’s about our relationship with Him.
What’s love got to do with it? Love is the peace and power that sustains us when we are surrounded by or drowning in the chaos we call life.
What’s love got to do with it? Love is the ability to forgive those who despitefully use us; to move forward knowing that we, too, have been forgiven, so who are we NOT to forgive others.

What’s love got to do with it? Love is the hope we have in God when everything around us appears hopeless and we feel helpless. We are able to stand knowing that God loves us and is with us.
What’s love got to do with it? Love is the faith we have when we don’t or can’t see the future or don’t understand how we can climb or overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.

What’s love got to do with it? Everything! God is NOT a genie that we call upon when we need or want something. God is love and He loves us. He desires to have a personal and loving relationship with us – everyday – not just on Valentine’s Day.
Peace and power,
