Scenes From NSU’s Homecoming Weekend

NORFOLK
Norfolk State (3-5 overall, 3-2 MEAC) lost to Savannah State 27-9 on homecoming weekend in front of 17, 218 fans at Price Stadium. The Spartans jumped to a quick 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 3-yard TD run by NSU QB Juwan Carter.. SSU scored in the second quarter when Derrick Kirkland hauled in a 19 yard TD pass and the game was tied 6-6 at the half.
NSU was unable to hold off the surging Tigers of Savannah State (1-7 overall, 1-4 MEAC), who outscored the Spartans 21-3 in the second half. SSU out-rushed the Spartans 262 to 123. NSU plays NC A&T next Saturday at 1 p.m.

Ron Pretlow of NSU Maintenance Department went high to prepare a campus greeting for the annual influx of alumni and friends expected to show up for this year’s Homecoming.

NSU alumni and friends in town for the annual Homecoming weekend spent a part of Friday night being entertained by the NSU Jazz Band in concert. The annual event is sponsored by the Norfolk State University Foundation and this year also featured the jazzy sounds of the Elements Band and the RaJazz Band.
