Sept. 20 Gethsemane Will Host Major Community Service Initiative

Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church (“Gethsemane”) will host a community endeavor entitled: Night of Impact – an event that will bring together more than 300 participants and groups on September 20.

A host of community businesses, fraternal groups, and service organizations will join with the Norfolk church to meet identified needs of schools, military, hospitals, college campuses, homeless, hungry, and imprisoned through several on-site service projects that will simultaneously occur throughout the entirety of the event.

In partnership with the American Red Cross and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and several other organizations, this event will also include a major blood drive and the We Feed Norfolk campaign.

The main event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the church, which is located at 1317 E. Brambleton Ave. in Norfolk; the blood drive will kick off at 3 p.m. and last until 8 p.m. at the same location. This event is a part of the church’s month-long 25th anniversary celebration and its ongoing commitment and investment into the Hampton Roads community.

The event will include activities for all ages. Gethsemane is inviting the public to participate on the day of the event and prior to the event date through providing donations, items of support, monetary gifts, and registering for the blood drive, which is a dire need in the local community.

Organized in September 1992, Gethsemane is an independent Baptist church committed to glorifying God and ministering to His people. The church is centrally located in the heart of Norfolk, just two blocks from Norfolk State University. Its community outreach includes major emphasis in the areas of missions, jail ministry, ex-offender reentry, youth development services, community development and Christian leadership development.
