First Baptist Church located on Bute Street in Norfolk is in the process of rehabilitating a house in the Lindenwood section of Norfolk for homeless female veterans with children. The house which is located at 1044 Lindenwood Avenue was bequeathed to First Baptist Church by, former member, Vanetta Morgan Quinley. Known as the Quinley House Project which will be, according to the project committee, the first and only home designed and established for homeless female veterans with children, in the area.
The First Phase of the rehabilitation project, which is almost completed, consisted of planning, designing and fundraising. On Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2 p.m., there will be a program announcing the beginning of Phase II of the Quinley House Project at the 1044 Lindenwood Avenue location. At the ceremony, persons will be shown a rendering of the exterior and a diagram of the projected interior design.
