Teens With A Purpose To Hold 8th Gala and Youth Move Makers Awards Ceremony
HAMPTON ROADS
The 8th annual Gala and Youth Move Makers Award ceremony, themed *Art-Tastic!,* will take place on Saturday, November 7 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Norfolk’s Chrysler Museum of Art. The event is hosted by Teens With A Purpose (TWP).
This year’s keynote speaker is Clayton J. Singleton, a sought after public speaker who served as motivational speaker for Norfolk Public Schools’ 2014-2015 Convocation at Norfolk Scope. He is an art teacher at Lake Taylor High School and an award-winning artist, celebrated published writer and poet.
The evening will begin with a unique and inspiring award show during which TWP will recognize the 2015 Move Maker of the year. The Move Maker Award honors Hampton Roads Youth (12-18 years old) who have made significant strides over the past year while overcoming obstacles. Many of the young people nominated for this award have never been celebrated before. Norfolk School Interim Superintendent, Dr. Michael Thornton will also be presenting an award during this segment of the event.
Move Makers winners will receive the first Adam Haylock Scholarship which will provide the winners with a monetary award helping them advance their aspirations.
Besides striving to raise funds for TWP’s free, year-round programs, the event also seeks to seat *every youth Move Maker nominee* at the Gala. Sponsors can support a youth table or purchasing an ad in the commemorative magazine.
Tickets may be purchased at www.twp-themovement.org/2015twpgala/
