E-D Golf Tour Makes Awards
HAMPTON ROADS
The E-D Golf Tour which stands for Empowerment and Diversity and whose mission is Scholarship, Golf and Benevolence hosted its annual season ending Scholarship and Awards banquet Saturday December 10, 2016 at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
During this elegant evening, awards were presented to members of the E-D Golf Tour for their tournament accomplishments throughout the 2016 season. The evening was highlighted by the scholarship award presentation of $1,000 to Jalen Thompson, a senior at Grassfield High School in Chesapeake who will be attending a college or university of his choice in the fall of 2017.
The evening also included awarding the Trailblazer award to Mrs. Sharon Hunt as the organization’s first female golfer in addition to honoring Mr. Billie Thompson Sr. with the organization’s Legacy Award for his longstanding exemplary contributions to helping youth and promoting positive life experiences through golf.
The E-D Golf Tour comprises over 40 individuals throughout Hampton Roads from diverse backgrounds who are members of the organization. The E-D Golf Tour is a 501 (c) 3 Tax exempt non-profit organization and is a member of the North/South Golf Association that produced some of golf’s prolific Black golfers that included Charlie Sifford and Lee Elder to name a few.
The E-D Golf Tour has sponsored a local junior golfer to a large junior golf tournament in Florida and the E-D Golf Tour has supported other organizations.
