April 14: Project Inclusion To Host Forum
HAMPTON ROADS
The United Way of South Hampton Roads Annual Project Inclusion Board Governance Leadership Development Program Forum is scheduled for Thursday April 14 at 6 p.m. at the Norfolk Police Department 3rd Patrol Division 901 Ashbury Avenue in Norfolk. The theme is “Connecting the pieces to give back to the community.” Davy Smith III, a native of Portsmouth, Virginia and Founder/Owner ofLearning Growing Changing, LLC will serve as the keynote speaker.
Founded by the Council of Diversity and Inclusion which comprises a group of dedicated volunteers that advises United Way of South Hampton Roads on issues that impact our diverse communities, the current class is sponsoring its class project Board Governance Forum is designed to help citizens better understand value of serving on boards and commissions throughout the seven cities.
Luanna Munoz, a native Californian and co-host of The Hampton Roads Show on WAVY TV 10, has been tapped to moderate the panel of speakers who will share their unique board experiences.
This current graduate class will join more than 600 alumni who have been placed on the boards of local non-profit organizations. Project Inclusion has been recognized nationally as a Best Practice Leadership and Development program. It has grown from a 6-week program that recruits and trains participants on how to become more effective when serving on non-profit boards and commissions, to a 12-week program where relationships are cultivated and leadership and management skills are nurtured and developed.
“The program’s continued success has been attributed to the commitment and dedication of the men and women who have chosen to take part in this valuable training,” said J.R. Locke, Director of Project Inclusion.
