77-56 NSU Overpowers FAMU Pres. Eddie Moore Named No. 1 Spartan

NORFOLK
The NSU men’s basketball team defeated Florida A&M 77-56 Saturday (Jan 9) at Echols Hall. During halftime, NSU President Eddie Moore was named No. 1 Spartan by the athletic department and presented with a framed jersey.
NSU (6-11 overall, 2-0 MEAC) jumped to a 22 point lead in the second half and cruised to victory. NSU was led by Jeff Short, who scored 15 points and Charles Oliver and Alex Long who added 12 and 11 points respectively.
In women’s hoops, the NSU Lady Spartans lost 83-67 to the FAMU Lady Rattlers. NSU fell to 0-13, 0-3 MEAC. The NSU Lady Spartans took up a donation from the fans to help teammate Amber Brown with medical expenses. Brown was found unresponsive in her dorm room on New Year’s Day. She has been recently awakened from a medically induced coma for an ailment related to diabetes.
