Black Diamond Weekend Held In Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH
Black Diamond Weekend 2019 presented and hosted by Black Brand, a non-profit association of mainly millennial Black entrepreneurs, was held at the Westin Hotel November 29-December 1. The weekend’s theme was “20/20 Vision: Unveiling a 150-Year Plan for Success in Black Entrepreneurship.”
Organizers said they designed programs during the weekend to unify, educate, provide access and opportunity, and shape community development.
Friday night’s kick-off featured a networking reception in preparation for Small Business Saturday – Black Wall Street! Along with a marketplace offering products and services of Black-owned businesses, educational classes were offered as part of a Black Wall Street Business Bootcamp. Advice on branding, intrapreneurship, government contracting and more were featured.
That evening. the 4th Annual Black Diamond Affair celebrated success in Black entrepreneurship. Keynoting the occasion was Dr. George Fraser on the vision for economic progress.
Sunday’s program entitled the Wealth Machine’s #iAmFunded Pitch Competition introduced 13-22 year old youth who competed for business capital injection of $10,000 into their business idea.
Black Brand/Hampton Roads Regional Black Chamber of Commerce is headed by President and Co-founder, Blair Durham, and its Chair, Renaldo Randal.
