Awards Ceremony Commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and King Center

CHESAPEAKE
The Connectional Ministries and Mission, 2000, Inc. (CMM 2K) and G Paris Media Group hosted the Presidential and MLK Ambassadors for Service Awards on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Indian River Library, Chesapeake, VA.
The event was planned and presented by Rev. Glenda Murray Kelly in recognition of Dr. Martin King, Jr.’s birthday and the 50th Anniversary of the King Center in Atlanta. Several events are being hosted around the world to commemorate the work of Dr. King and his family.
Shirley Thomas of Washington, D.C., served as Mistress of Ceremonies. Mr. Lessie Smith, President of the Chesapeake Democratic Committee, served as Award Presenters. As a special tribute to Dr. King, Sylvester Basnight, (aka) Bolo Snow, delivered a King oratorical presentation.
For the 2017 service year, three individuals received the “Presidential Life Time Achievement Award”: Mr. Edward Joyner, Mr. Quarry Wilson and Mr. Michael I. Clemons. Master Ezekiel Arnold received the Presidential Youth Service Award. In addition to a medallion from Rev. Murray Kelly, the honorees received letters of commendation signed by the President of the United States.
Four special Community Service awards were presented to Regina Mobley, Mayrose Moon, Rev. Christian Savage, Pastor, New Mount Olive, A.M.E. Church, Chesapeake, VA and Dr. William Ward in memory of the Late Dr. Hugo A. Owens, Sr. The service was in honor of Rev. James E. Murray, Jr., Pastor of CMM 2K, and brother of Rev. Glenda Murray Kelly, who also presented their mother with a Community Service Award.
The following individuals were awarded trophies for Excellence in Community Service for 2017 along with receiving the MLK Ambassador for Service Award: Ernest Lowery, Francina Harrison, Apostle Zeda Gardner, Rev. Rosie Seaton, Delores Dee Dee Ricks Gee, Tonya M. Shell, (aka) Poetikk Justice, Ray Lawson, Nicole Cleveland, Sylvester Basnight, (aka) Bolo Snow, Ariel King-Cary, Apostle Joyce Tasby, Ellen Harris, Ruverta J. Holmes, Judy Boyd Rollins, Paula Allen Beckett, Sharon Mason Mayfield, Dr. Yolanda Jarmon, Delores Pruitt Polite, Ashley Smith, Dennis and Blair Dunham.
Rev. Glenda P. Murray-Kelly, Phd. Learner, is the founder and CEO of CMM 2K and G Paris Media Group. The organization is a registered member of the Virginia Volunteer Service Award Program, The Presidential Service Award Project, The Atlanta Volunteer Service Award Program and the Historymaker project.
