A Fool’s Errand

I wish I was a good girl
That colored in the lines
played by the rules
A girl that liked
Safe, boring dudes, predictable
No thrills no tattoos
The type of dude that
Takes you on a date
Goes along to get along
Admits his mistakes
I wish I liked boring dudes
That live on the surface
Satisfactory to the eye
But wade in a shallow pool
I wish, I was a woman
Suited for a 9 to 5, and
Lived a simple routine life
A woman that liked
Uncomplicated men, idealistic
And posed no risk
The type of man that
Presents well, a stand up guy
Looks good on paper,
And good by my side
I wish I liked uncomplicated men
Content with their station in life
Place their value in objects
Rather than the inner being, the 3rd eye
But I was never a girl
that liked the easy win
Didn’t grow into a woman
that liked unimaginative, unsultry men
I am a force, a creative
I require…quiet suffering,
inspiration
I like men that challenge me
My beliefs, my world view
That call me on my bull
When I lie, see straight through
The type of man that
Controls the room
Whose presence is felt, and
He doesn’t have to say a word
A born leader, and
His decisions are the final word
Everyone orbits his gravitational pull
And look to him to provide
Look to him for safety, resolution
A man chosen, placed in the toughest conditions
Fought to become himself
Whose heart beats different
To love this type of man…
May be a fool’s errand
It takes understanding, because
He can not be controlled
He requires his solitude
Carves his own path, Travels alone
An insatiable appetite
For purpose, passion, and success
To love this type of man
May be a fool’s errand
Guess I’m a fool at best
