Young Leaders Award To Debut During African-American History Month
NORFOLK
Nominations are now open for the Young African-American Leaders of Tomorrow Award presented by the Norfolk Public Library (NPL) and The New Journal and Guide during African-American History Month. One male and one female will be selected.
Two area young leaders will be recognized at the opening ceremony of NPL’s African-American History Month on February 4 at 3 p.m. at the Slover Library. The award is designed to highlight the contributions and achievements of young African-Americans in our community.
Nominees must have resided in Hampton Roads for at least two years and may range in age from high school to adults no older than 30 years of age.
Winners will be selected based on showing exemplary leadership and scholarship. Also, they must have been personally or professionally involved in making tangible, visible, and meaningful contributions to the Hampton Roads community.
Persons making nominations must provide a typewritten statement, not to exceed 150 words in length, that gives information about the nominee, major accomplishments, and why the person is being nominated.
