Iotas Host Grand Emerald Luncheon
Alpha Chi Chapter – Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. hosted the Second Annual Emerald Educators Scholarship Luncheon in observance of American Education Week on Sunday,November 13, 2016.The event was held at the Holiday Inn Norfolk/Virginia Beach Conference Center.
The room was beautifully decorated in green and white ribbons, bows and flowers. A gigantic ice stature with the Iota emblem was located in the room to the delight of the many guest and honorees.
The eight outstanding educators, Andrenette Ingram, Kimberly Joyner, Vanessa Maxwell-Brooks, Alyce Robinson, Dubois Scott, KaShauna Spratley, Jakahi Taylor, and Joanne Williams-Reed were all saluted in grand style. There was a surprise visit from Dr. Toney L. McNair, the 2017 Virginia Teacher of the Year who also brought greetings and received a salute.
The program was chaired by Cynthia D. Calhoun and her outstanding committee who were Judy Davis, Marva McCoy, Joanna Pinkckens, and E. Christina Riddick. Eileen Scott presided over the program and Lula Sears served as narrator.
Other participants were Joan Joseph who gave the invocation and 19th Past National President, Charlotte Maull who brought greetings.
Six men of Iota served as escorts. They were Jesse Coley, Lamar Morris, Robert Cooke, Washington Ruffin, Billy McCaa and Ricky Washington. Music was by Elton Williams, Steel Drum Musician. A great time was had by all.
