Vickers Gets 3-year NSU Deal
Norfolk State Director of Athletics Marty L. Miller announced Friday that women’s basketball coach Larry Vickers has been signed to a three-year contract to lead the program. Vickers was named interim head coach on Jan. 20 and coached the Spartans for the final 11 games of the season.
He was appointed to the permanent post on March 8, originally on a one year contract. The new three-year contract replaces the one-year deal. “We were impressed with the improvements that the women’s basketball program made during the brief period that he coached the team,” Miller said. The 2016-17 season will be Vickers’ ninth season as a coach at NSU. He served eight years as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program.
