Tyler Perry’s Straw Has Biggest Week for a Film in 2025

Audiences continued to connect with Tyler Perry’s Straw last week, which amassed another 48.9 million views, making it both the biggest week this year for a movie and the biggest week for a 2025 launch. Still sitting firmly atop the English Films list, the psychological thriller starring Taraji P. Henson — whose compelling and emotional performance captivated viewers — was a Top 10 hit on Netflix in all countries, and was the third most-watched title on IMDb this week.
The mother-daughter duo series Ginny & Georgia continued to win over the hearts and minds of TV lovers who were enamored with its “fabulous antiheroine.” The show’s third season maintained its No. 1 spot on the English TV List with 16.9 million views, as fans saw their favorite characters pushed “to the limit.” Viewers who were left wondering what Season 4 might have in store for the Miller family also continued putting in time with Season 1, now in the No. 5 spot (4.2 million views), and Season 2 at No. 6 (3.3 million views).
Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster, which tells the untold story of a tragic tourist expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic, debuted at No. 2 on the English Films List with 17.4 million views. The documentary follows CEO Stockton Rush’s ambitions to expand the luxury tourism industry into the realm of deep-sea exploration, with exclusive access to key figures involved in developing the Titan submersible and those who warned against the endeavor.

Action lovers got their heart rates up while watching the French revenge thriller K.O., starring MMA fighter and actor Ciryl Gane, which rose to No. 1 in non-English films. Gane fought his way into the Top 10 in all countries, as the film garnered an additional 19.4 million views in its second week on the list. Speaking of action, German director Christian Zübert’s thriller Exterritorial moved into the No. 5 spot on the Most Popular Non-English Films List, with 83.6 million views to date. Meanwhile, audiences were charmed by the time-traveling couple at the heart of the Mexican romantic sci-fi Our Times, which debuted at No. 2 with 7.1 million views.
The Survivors, a thrilling whodunit about a young couple who are haunted by the ghosts of their pasts when they return to their small seaside hometown, gripped fans in its second week. The Australian limited series landed the No. 2 spot in English TV with 9 million views. Mystery enthusiasts also continued digging into the dark comedy Sirens (No. 3) and the crime thriller Dept. Q (No. 4), which each earned an additional 4.3 million views.
