Tidewater Seniors in Action Present Black History Program

CHESAPEAKE
Tidewater Seniors in Action hosted a luncheon program entitled “Moments in Black History” on February 4 at the Indian River Community Center. Mistress of Ceremony was the group’s president, Ms. Ann Geter.
Poetry, exhibits and Black History artifacts were the order of the day as guests celebrated and honored famous African-Americans in Hampton Roads and elsewhere before enjoying a delicious lunch.

Persons in attendance included current Chesapeake Mayor Alan Krasnoff and long-time Chesapeake Mayor Bill Ward, as well as City Councilwoman Ella Ward.
The Black History Committee was made up of Mrs. Shirley Coleman, Ms. Kay Collins, Ms. Esther Friend, Mrs. Linda Nicholes, Mrs. Annie Smith, Ms. Dolores Thomas, and Chairwoman Ms. Ruth Brown, Co-Chair Ms. Betty Spencer and Co-Chair rev. Linda Roberts.
Also on the program was Rev. Inez Dunston. Mr. Talton Manning provided a musical selection.
