The recognition and wisdom of God through Jesus Christ will cause us to achieve our positive goals in a life of service with others. Proverbs 4 tells us that wisdom is supreme according to verses 1-14. As an instrument of change, we are advised to embrace wisdom, seek understanding, avoid waywardness and complacency that destroy us without the Word of God! Most of us are not wild about advice.
What can we gain from reading the Bible? Wisdom will be noticed in our dealings with others. This kind of studying offers us protection from wickedness and unrighteousness. The Bible is full of God’s advice. Most importantly, we will learn to trust God and not lean on our own understanding.
How was the prophet Isaiah confronted with a life – changing event! Read about Isaiah’s encounter with God in chapter 6. His messages present God as being capable of perfect justice and perfect mercy. As he worked as a prophet of God, Isaiah once said “Here am I, send me!” After telling Isaiah that the people would not listen he was assigned by God to speak anyway. We see that many of God’s promises through Isaiah have been fulfilled through Jesus Christ. Hopefully we know that God is active in all history and in our lives today.
As a new comer to the community of faith or as a believing reader of the Word of God, the Bible is all we need to guide us through today’s problems. Let us continue to ask God to lead us in our Bible study of passages of Scriptures and answer the question: What does this mean to me? In our own personal Bibles, we can always highlight many verses that answer our most often questions that are asked.
Let us continue to make God’s Word an instrument of peace in our homes, communities, families and the world in general. How can we best help others? What are the best ways others can help us?
(1) Love unconditionally (Proverbs 17:17)
(2) Be available for advice from God (Proverbs 27:9)
(3) Speak the truth (Proverbs 27:5-6)
(4) Be loyal in friendship(s) (Proverbs 16:28)
Jesus chose you to be His friend according to Paul’s advice to the Romans (15:7) “Accept one another, then just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” Lastly, let us learn to spiritually grow together as Christians!
