‘Stop The Silence’ Luncheon Highlights Breast Cancer Awareness

NORFOLK
The Tidewater Chapter of  Sisters Network Inc.,   recently presented a “Stop the Silence” Prayer and Education Luncheon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Berkley, where Rev. Dr. Carl Sherrill is senior pastor.

Sisters Network is a National African-American Breast Cancer Survivorship Organization.

The Tidewater Chapter, formerly the Norfolk Chapter, was organized in 2004.  The purpose is to get the message out of the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness and to increase local and national attention to the devastating impact that breast cancer has in the African-American community.

The beautiful colors of pink, Black and white were the setting and were displayed throughout the room.  Sharon Scott presided as Mistress of Ceremonies; Ora Lee gave the Invocation/Grace; and Cynthia Cheatham gave the Welcome.  Musical entertainment was provided by Audra Bunch, soloist.

Ada Blair introduced the speaker, Rev. Gloria Newsome-Brickhouse, who gave a fervent survivors’ prayer and an inspirational message.

New inductees and special flora presentations were presented by Josette Gregory.
