Social and Civic Whirl: Booker T. Washington Class of 1957 Celebrated Their 60th Reunion
These are the reflections, from class of 1957 class member, of Beaulah A. Moore affectionately called “Bea” about the wonderful reunion. “The stormy, rainy weather of the weekend of October 13th to 15th did not defer the festivities and fun as class members convened at the Double Tree hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Friday night found class members welcoming, greeting and reminiscing about the ‘old days’ at BTW.
Saturday evening was highlighted with a banquet with classmate Ernestine Wilson as Toast Mistress. Past class sponsors, Mrs. Vernell Harris and Mrs. Muriel T. Jones were recognized and members of the class who were instrumental in bringing this occasion to fruition were recognized. A memorial service was given in recognition of those who passed since our last Reunion. E. Quinton Gordon was the speaker and delivered a heartwarming speech.
The highlight of the entire occasion was when the amount of $2,555 was collected and donated to the Norfolk Education Foundation and earmarked for the Booker T. Washington High School Scholarship Fund.
Bitter-sweet good byes were shared on Sunday morning as we departed looking forward to our next activity.”
Class reunions held by classes from the days at Booker T. always have a “GOOD TIME TOGETHER.”
