Seven To Be Honored At 15th King Dream Awards Gala

NORFOLK

As Americans celebrate Black History Month which marks an important month historically for all Americans, we pause to recognize those contributions from African Americans whom we will always remain indebted to. One person specifically is the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. a man we pay tribute to who exhibited love and stood for equality and justice for all persons.  On Thursday, March 1, 2012 seven persons will be recognized for exemplifying the spirit of Dr. King during the 15th Implement The King Dream Awards Gala.

 

This year’s annual event will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the new Norfolk Plaza Hotel Norfolk (near the Norfolk Scope), 700 Monticello Avenue. Dr. Vernard E. Hinton, Senior Pastor, Faith Life Church, Virginia Beach, is the keynote speaker.

 

The 2012 Honorees are Shelia O. Campbell, Royal Neighbors of America; Dr. Angela Corprew-Boyd, Women Empowered in the Millennium; Todd E. Davis, Community Philanthropist; Elsie Y. Goodrum, Philanthropist/Mentor; Anita B. Mitchell, Community Philanthropist; Dorothy M. Riddick, Community Philanthropist; and Marvin A. Waters Jr., The Portsmouth Cavaliers

 

Ashley Smith, Miss United States 2011, will make a special appearance, with entertainment by Brian Pinner, Saxophonist.
