Rebecca’s Well: Right-Brain Evangelism

Martin Luther, Founder of the Protestant Reformation, has stated, “If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write.”
Years ago, I asked the Lord if I should become a writer. He said, “You are qualified to write.”
So, I pick up the pen and try humbly to write. I’m not a great writer, but I write.
In 2003, I was lead by the Lord to develop an approach to evangelism using the brain as metaphor for how we think, feel, and act. I call this easily learned way to lead loved ones, especially children, family, friends and others, to Jesus Christ – “Right-Brain Evangelism.”
I use a combination of four familiar phrases. “Stuck in Left-Brain? Get Smart! Use Your Right-Brain. Be Saved Today.”
My rationale is Bible-based. Jesus was rejected in Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum, for: “Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” (Mt 4:17). In my analysis, this is a repentance message of law and logic, characteristic of the thinking Left-Brain.
Jesus subsequently added scripture that appealed to the Right-Brain of love, feeling and acceptance. There were those in the kingdom, who had not rejected Him, and who were conscious of their need of salvation. It was a pivotal point in the ministry of Jesus .”.. Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand” (Mt 4:17) and also the invitation to “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest …” (Mt 11:28-30.
To suffering humanity, those carrying heavy burdens of sin, oppression and persecution or weariness in the search for God, Jesus offers salvation rest.
The salvation rest Jesus promises is love, healing and peace with God. This is right-brain stuff. If we approach lost souls at their level of need for rest, love, healing, salvation, and peace using scriptures that appeal to the right-brain, we may win more souls for Jesus Christ.
Perhaps, winning souls for Christ is less productive today. As in the day of John and Jesus, people are still rejecting “left-brain” repentance message.
If we follow Jesus’ new method of discipleship “Come unto me,” a Right-Brain appeal, we may win more souls for Christ and grow the Church of God universally.
When leading children and others to Christ, then please have an open mind and first try salvation scriptures of personal appeal to the Right-Brain, the “behaving” brain that blends and accepts. Once you have established rapport with the unsaved, integrate with “Left-Brain” kingdom messages of repentance.
In the next series of articles I shall discuss my methodology of Right-Brain Evangelism. Be sure to save all issues and practice your skill in leading people to Christ.
