Rebecca’s Well: Passages of Life – Part III

If troubled waters and testings by fire keep on coming in our lives, it is an expression of God’s confidence in us and further proof that he is looking for us to glorify him when the furnace of life gets hotter. There is a set time for putting into the river and a set time for taking out.

“When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: When thou walkest through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
Isaiah 43:2

If troubled waters and testings by fire keep on coming in our lives, it is an expression of God’s confidence in us and further proof that he is looking for us to glorify him when the furnace of life gets hotter. There is a set time for putting into the river and a set time for taking out.

You remember the prophet in connection with the river of the sanctuary? Waters to the ankles – waters to the knees – waters to the loins. When he had measured again. It was a river! Waters to swim in.

Wade in the water children until God makes for you a river to swim in. Your hardships will develop beauty in the soul. Your soul thrives on troubles. Troubles bring out the best in our souls. There is a set time for putting into the furnace, and a set time for taking out of the furnace.

The question is asked, what makes this set of china more expensive than that? Lenox Wedgewood, Royal Doulton says that expensive sets have been put through the fire twice. Why is the design so blurred on this piece of china and its band so marred? It is because it was not burned enough. Had this inexpensive china remained in the fire long enough, its blurred design would have been distinct, and its dark background, dazzling gold.

Scripture tells us that when the fires are the hottest, when the storms of life are raging, He is in the midst of life’s fire with us …and the form of the forth is like the Son of Man. Jesus, the Son of Man and the Son of God kept the three Hebrew boys company in the furnace that was heated ten times hotter than usual.

And the flames did not kindle upon them, fire had gone out of the flames, their burning power had been consumed by the power of almighty God. God is calling us to pass through the waters for He will be with us and through the rivers for we shall not drown. Stay in the furnace, children, until God finishes tempering you.

If the storms keep on raging in your life, be still and let God temper you. Be still in the furnace fire while the Holy Ghost molds and polishes your soul.

One moment in the icy waters and the next moment in the fiery furnace. Shall we come out as we went in? Ah, no! “We shall come forth as pure gold.” We shall become purer vessels of praise and prayer. We shall become Holy golden vessels for the Master’s use in time and Eternity.

“Some through the waters, some through the flood, some through the fire but all though the blood. Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song in the night season and all the daylong.”

As we journey through the Passages of Life, “Pass us not O gentle savior, Hear my humble cry; while on others thou are calling, Do not pass us by. Savior, Savior, hear our humble cry, while on others thou art calling, do not pass us by. Amen.”
