Rebecca’s Well: Come Unto Me

 Yes I’m  coming Lord for I am full of myself – after all, I spent a long time in sin’s prison. What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I despise … I realize that I don’t have what it takes. I can will it but I can’t do it. I decide to do good, but I don’t really do it. I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as the are, don’t  result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time. It happens so regularly that it’s predictable.  The moment I decide to do good, sin is there to trip me up. I truly delight in God’s commands, but it’s pretty obvious that not all of me joins in that delight. Parts of me covertly rebel, and just won’t do right. I’ve tried everything and nothing works . I’m at the end of my rope. Is there no one who can do anything for me? Isn’t that the real question? 

The answer, thank God, is that Jesus Christ can and does. He acted to set things right at Calvary, for this life of contradictions where I want to serve God with all my heart and mind, but get pulled back by the sinful influences within and without me to do something totally different. (Romans 7:14-15,18-25).  

Note: Religion is belief in God and a particular set of rituals and   requirements for worship. Religion is not a negative concept in itself; it gains notoriety when pursued with excessive zeal and man-made  showmanship and scriptural ignorance. 

Christianity is not a religion. It is an organism, the church which is the whole body of living believers in Jesus Christ. The church is the body of Christ who is the Head over all things to the church the fullness of Him that filleth all in all” (Ephesians 1:23)   All praise to God our Father. Father of all mercies. God of all healing counsel. For my steps are ordered by the Lord and in His Word I see the light. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free  from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2) KJV  Thank you Jesus for setting me free for the Bible says-If the Son therefore shall make you free you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)KJV 

Amen. (Oh, Yes!)
