New Galilee Hosts 25th Anniversary of Male Chorus

New Galilee Missionary Baptist Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of its Male Chorus on Sunday (July 9) with a concert featuring the Hurdle Brothers, Kingdom, Big Piney Grove Baptist Church, Christian Home Baptist Church of Moyock, NC, Providence UCC, and Samuels Chapel Holiness Church of Moyock, NC. New Galiee is located on 1765 S. Military Highway in Chesapeake at the site of the old Freedom Lincoln-Mercury car dealership. The church was forced to relocate several years ago due to the widening of Dominion Blvd and replacement of the Steel Bridge.
The Guide spoke to Dr. Anderson O. Foreman, Jr., Pastor of New Galilee, and asked him how did he envision a former car dealership becoming his new church? Dr. Foreman said, “ I was obedient to the Spirit of Christ. I could not see it, but because of my obedience I looked into it. God gave me the vision. I’m not an architect but God put in my spirit how he wanted it. The city and our attorney worked diligently on our behalf. The land was rezoned. We were able to purchase the land for 3.75 million. We still own land near Oscar Smith High.”
Dr. Foreman took the Guide on a tour of the church. He also thanked the Guide for covering the concert.
