“More American”

By Sean C. Bowers

Is anyone “more American” than anyone else? 45 would have you believe so, from his incessant twitter-dumb “REAL FAKE NEWS” feed.

If this absurd premise was followed to its logical conclusion, we would base our final decision, not on race, but on what the individual in question has done to help the entire human race. Totaling all one’s good and bad deeds on a public ledger for public discourse would be the norm. Individuals would not be permitted to make their own narcissistic case. The case for each individual would be made by those who publicly go on record and testify with documentation and proof of their claims about the individual.

Bottom line: did the person in question deserve the space and air they took? Did they only enrich themselves, or did they have a higher calling? America has the potential to bring out the best in us, lifting us and the entire world to a better place than where we now find ourselves. But America also has the potential to implode along any number of existing fault lines.

Given the gravity of our current world situation, history clearly shows when any ONE individual starts down the “I’M PERFECT, I’m the only one who can fix this, I’m beyond reproach, beyond question, above the law,” the results speak Encyclopedia sets worth of prolonged painful violent failures. Failure to deliver and achieve the obvious fraudulent claims and deliverables, as well as failure to uplift humankind, failure to “secure” anything, because security is an illusion that can’t be delivered or held in our mortal hands. Security can be improved, but it can’t ever be completely delivered. Total security would be a society free of freedoms and rights- a society none of us wants or could live with.

Over the past four hundred years, everyone except America’s original Native Americans came to America to make a fresh start, many fleeing violence, class, race, sex, warfare and religious persecution. Many of those who first came to America settled and brought “the Bought” way to enslave others, on which they then built their empires and wealth.

Only when forced to give up their human property hierarchy society by the Civil War and the Emancipation Proclamation did America finally take a step in the direction towards an equality often spoken of, but never actually achieved.

Since Reconstruction times, two main groups have emerged: those who see the light of true equality and all that inspires from the best of humanity, and those who have a sincere desire to go back in time to a place where they can have power over others and their societal game control goes unchecked.

America has to decide if we want to be on the constant treadmill of attainment of things at the expense of others, or do we as a nation want everyone to have the same fair opportunity to succeed- accomplishing more, doing more, being more, not just for ourselves, but for each other, for our children, for our legacy and for true and lasting peace.

Box one: Be “more American” for all Americans.
