Marriner Moments: Resurgence – Part 4

By Pastor Melvin O. Marriner
Grove Church

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
– Philippians 3:14

As we press toward the mark in 2016, REsurging or RE-igniting our dreams, hopes and aspirations, I encourage you to do so in a manner that enables you to finish strong. Life happens, plans change and goals have to be RE-shifted or RE-prioritized, but don’t allow that to deter you or take you too far off course! Each of us has a purpose or passion for which God put us on this earth.

Jot down your goals, along with the steps it will take to achieve them and then – throughout the year – check or RE-visit them to make sure you are on track or to determine if they need to be RE-adjusted. No matter if your goal is calling your parents at least once a week, switching careers, attending Bible study more frequently, or exercising regularly, be realistic, but stay committed, and you are more likely to stay on course.

Journaling is a great way to document your journey. It provides a tangible snapshot of your course, captures your successes and failures so that – in retrospect – you have a greater appreciation of what it took to press toward the mark.
Let’s make 2016 the year of REsurgence, as we RE-shift, RE-focus, RE-evaluate and RE-define our life, our purpose or passion, and our faith. And, remember, you are never alone in this race we call life. God loves you and so do I!
