Julian Vaughan At The Attucks

NORFOLK
Kansas City’s Julian Vaughn brought his own brand of smooth jazz and instrumental R&B to the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk on Saturday night, October 6. Vaughan kicked off the 2018-2019 Church Street Jazz Series at the historic theater which includes four more shows through May 18. Vaughan made mention that he is a “P.K.” (Preacher’s Kid) which guided his interest in music while playing in his church band. Vaughn told the welcoming crowd he discovered his love of bass and taught himself how to play, influenced by such artists as Wayman Tisdale and Marcus Miller. His finale “Ain’t No Stopping Me Now” had the audience on its feet as he led the group through a melody of favorite hits.
