Inspirational Message: Stay Connected to the Source of Life

By Gladys McElmore

“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me – Apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:4-5 NIV). Jesus is the true vine and we must remain connected to Him for spiritual growth and prosperity. He is the vine and we are the branches. How can our growth be a part of His Kingdom building? How can we also help others to grow? How can leaning on the Lord as the source of our strength affect our growth? John 15:1-8 tells us how Jesus is the true vine and God, the Father is the gardener He cuts off every branch that does not bear fruit. He prunes unproductive fruitless branches so that more fruit can be produced.

Christ is the true vine and we are the branches. We have already been pruned for greater fruit bearing by Jesus Christ. He tells us to remain in Him and He will remain in us. Our instructions for growth come from the word that has been spoken by Jesus. He is the vine and we are the branches that cannot produce fruit when cut from the vine. Without connections, we are not fruitful apart from Jesus. Because of our continuous studying, we know that the word of God brings understanding and fruit for righteous being. Today and everyday let us pray to overcome evil with Christ through the power of His word!

Consider how Psalm 119:105 encourages us to view God’s daily message to us as we are reminded to acknowledge His light. We are wise not to underestimate the power of Scripture to connect us to Jesus Christ. Stay connected and keep worship time with God regardless of our status. It may be well for us to express joy when our blessings are snowflake-sized or mountain-sized and beautiful in the journey that God has prepared for us!

It can be a joy to seek the living God instead of waiting for Him to approach us. It is wise to seek Him, knock on His door and show Him our personal joy that He has chosen us to be a part of His divine purpose. How can God’s word guide us today?

1. We may try to be open-minded to His word.

2. Try being readily available to serve Him.

3. If possible, we can seek Him in whatever form or manner He shows Himself.

In following Him today, maybe we can bend our ears to hear Him calling us to do His will. God may be inviting any of us to follow Him, to escape the spiritual futility of this world and prepare for a magnificent future! In the meantime, we will probably live in the presently known turmoil and worldly decline. It can be overwhelming and discouraging to witness all that is happening around us. So it is vital that we focus on the big picture of God’s intervention and coming Kingdom. Trust in God, knowing that He is in control. He allows problems presently as part of His master plan. David wrote encouraging words for us in Psalm 27 which say to wait on the Lord – This is how we will survive as we wait to connect with the righteous King who is our source of life!
