Inspirational Message: God’s Endless Love for Us!

By Gladys McElmore
In our world today, what we need is love for everyone from God. The wisdom of the Bible is clear in the various definitions of love that God has for us. According to the Apostle Paul, he wrote to people who were afflicted by anger and many conflicts. He said, “though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of Prophecy, and understand all Mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all Faith, so that I could move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love it profits me nothing (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).”

These words are meaningful and timeless. They were written to people who knew the importance of personal commitment and true sacrifice. The Corinthians to whom Paul wrote understood with no doubt the value of faith, knowledge, spiritual gifts, strong leaders and inspiring messages! Because of their own self-interest, these early followers of Christmas perhaps lost sight of the goal of their faith and knowledge. It is possible to study the scriptures and still miss the heart and mind of God? In our desire for Spiritual fulfillment, can we forget what we need most? We can continue to ask God to reveal our needs to us as we seek to do His Will.

In what ways do we need God’s love more than the Corinthians? Wealth and poverty along with racial, moral decline, family problems, legal and political challenges when abuse of every description is often observed. Are we in need of love? We as people of God need real love to change our lives. By today’s standards, the Corinthian followers of Jesus Christ had much to overcome to receive God’s love. We too may be wise to understand that following Christ means more than the pursuit of knowledge and power. All of our eloquent writings or speeches, doctrines, expressions of faith and sacrificial giving can actually drive others away from us without the real meaning of love. With 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, Paul showed what really happens when our actions are not done with love.

Can we become long-suffering, kind, not envious, not full of ourselves or not let our hope be in God during turbulent times? Yes we can, if we are living with confidence in the words and the plans of God which will give us reason to hope all things. Our faith in God’s love means we can believe that human failures don’t have to be final because of what God can do in our lives!

The insight the Corinthians needed is a match for our needs today. We too may have gathered mountains of information from God and man without understanding His will. It is possible that despite the spirit living in us, we still don’t care enough for others. We also may see the wrongs of others without seeing our own wrongs! Through all situations, God’s endless and unconditional love prevails. Whenever the nature of our relationships change due to unfortunate choices, God’s love can cause us to pray earnestly and fervently for his unconditional endless love because we will always need Him!
