Inspirational Message: Extraordinary Witnesses Share and Remember His Goodness and Power!

The history of God’s people is a lengthy record of tragedies, problems, pains and undoubtedly fearful situations. This psalm may unmask the doubtful advice we often give each other in times of trials and obvious discouragement. What is Asaph’s advice? When should we cry out to God? As it was with Asaph, God may not answer when we think He should.

Asaph’s plan of action included prayer and meditation in response to his pain and suffering. Even so, as it also in with us, his painful problems continued. In this psalm, he holds nothing back. He speaks bluntly and to the point.

Can faith save us from troubles? With mustard size faith or a great amount of faith, life is still full of problems and doubts. Like Asaph, we too can become confused and upset because of God’s seemingly silence when we cry out to Him! God spoke through the prophet Isaiah to let all of us know that His thoughts and ways are not like ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Because we are humans, let us continue to glorify God by becoming extraordinary witnesses concerning His goodness and power! Let us continue to trust Him in times of trials, tribulations and doubt to answer us at His appointed time. Let us continue to advise ourselves and others to pray as we wait for God’s response.

We want to understand and we will in God’s time with the unfolding of His plans. God allows difficulties and painful experiences in our lives because through them we grow and learn more about Him. In Psalm 77, Asaph almost sled into unbelief as he reflected on the past (Psalm 77:5-6). He also remembered God’s goodness and His past blessings. With understandable questions similar to ours, in times of confusion, we need answers and understanding from God. Why do we feel forgotten and abandoned? Has God’s mercy ended or has He changed?

Verses 10-30 tell us that He is still the God of miracles and He continues to display His power. Faith in God caused a shift in Asaph’s approach to a better way of thinking about the mighty deeds of the Lord. Using Asaph’s story in Psalm 77 lets us continue to become extraordinary witnesses for God!
