ILA Donates 70 Bikes To 2 Norfolk Schools

NORFOLK
Members of the International Longshoremen Association No. 1248 and No. 970 recently donated 70 new bicycles to students at Oceanair Elementary and Tidewater Elementary. Each grade school received 35 bikes. Meanwhile, Tidewater Park Elementary School students also received 25 new coats.
Keith Clark, who has chaired the ILA program for the past four years, said, “It was touching. A lot of the kids gave us hugs and a lot of the parents gave us thank-you cards. Our members did a great job again this year. I want to thank everyone who participated.”
For the past four years, the following ILA members have helped donate bicycles, backpacks, and clothing to students in Hampton Roads: Tommy M. Little, vice president of ILA, Edward Brown III, Roger Beacon, Tonya Teal, and Roger J. Giesinger, president and chief negotiator, Hampton Roads Shipping Association Committees.
