HU Defeats Kentucky State 35-20 In Season Opener

HAMPTON
Hampton University (HU) quarterback David Watford, a former Hampton High star and transfer from the University of Virginia, threw five touchdown passes as the Hampton Pirates defeated Kentucky State 35-20 at Armstrong Field in Hampton. Watford completed 22 of 37 passes for 345 yards, including three interceptions. Watford threw four TDs to Twarn Mixson.
Hampton was ahead 21-0 before Kentucky State scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter. The HU defense had six sacks.
HU plays Richmond at Armstrong Field September 12, with kickoff slated for noon.
