ELIZABETH CITY, N.C.
“HBCU Nation Radio Show” on HBCU Sirius XM Channel 142 was launched on July 15, 2015 on the campus of Elizabeth City State University. Produced and broadcast from the studios of WRVS-FM, 89.9, The HBCU Nation Radio Show in less than 18 months, has become the fastest growing and one of the most highly regarded media properties in the HBCU community.
Hosted by Anthony Ray, a 1977 graduate of Elizabeth City State University, it is the only nationally syndicated radio talk show in America that exclusively focuses on promoting HBCU Excellence, Innovation, and Sustainability.
Dr. Charlie Nelms, a three-time university college president/chancellor, and a frequent contributor to the show remarked, “It is essential that perspectives on the relevance of HBCUs be explored with passion and accuracy. These institutions are just as relevant today as they were decades ago. The HBCU Nation Radio show provides a powerful platform for conveying that message!”
Award winning mass media professional, Eddie Francis, who is also a frequent contributor to the broadcast went on to say, “This is an important step in media outreach for HBCUs and I am proud to be a part of it. To be part of a medium as powerful as SiriusXM is vital to HBCUs’ telling their story and having an open, healthy public discussion about how the general public can be part of the movement.”
The highly acclaimed show has received great reviews and tremendous support from HBCU chancellors, presidents, administrators, faculty, students, alumni, policy makers, and major stakeholders from all across the country. Dr Stacey Franklin Jones, chancellor of Elizabeth City State University remarked, “We are truly excited to join the HBCU Nation family.
