Free Workshop Aims To Build Strong Neighborhoods

NORFOLK

The City of Norfolk recognizes the housing market has evolved.  Now more than ever some citizens choose to rent.  The Landlord Relations Workshop shares best practices landlords can use to protect their investments and ensure their properties contribute to the safety, livability and care of Norfolk’s neighborhoods.

“We want landlords to walk away from this workshop with an understanding of the integral role they play as good neighbors building relationships within the community.  A rental property and the tenants that live there are just as important to the success of Norfolk’s neighborhoods as the homeowners,” says Bob Batcher, Director of Communications.

City of Norfolk’s Bureau of Community Enrichment, Bureau of Neighborhood Quality, Police Department, Fire and Rescue Department and the Attorney’s office collaborated to provide the workshop.  Community partners include: Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, State Farm Insurance Agency and S.L. Nusbaum Realty Company.

The workshop will be held February 16, 2012 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Norfolk’s Workforce Development Center.  Advanced registration is required.  Interested persons may register online at www.norfolk.gov/communityenrichment. Mail or fax registrations to the Bureau of Community Enrichment, 810 Union Street, 5th Floor, Norfolk, VA 23510.  Fax to (757) 664-6780.
