Mr. Ellis James has been called a “foot soldier” in efforts to bring about equity and justice in his beloved Norfolk, Va. He has been involved in voter registration drives, working for the election of those supporting civil rights for African American citizens; fair housing activism to end housing discrimination; environmental issues to save the planet; and public school policies to improve education.
