The NFL and Apple Music have announced three-time GRAMMY Award winner, Bad Bunny, will headline the Super Bowl LX Apple Music Halftime Show when the game emanates from Levi’s Stadium February 6th.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown … this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL,” – Bad Bunny said in a statement.
Bad Bunny made history earlier this year as he completed a 30-show residency in Puerto Rico, after the release of his sixth studio album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” The first nine shows were exclusively for Puerto Rican residents only.
Those concerts attracted more than 600,000 people, and brought in an estimated $733 million for Puerto Rico, according to a study by Gaither International. Additionally, Bad Bunny hosted his residency in Puerto Rico because of fears about mass deportations of Latinos in the United States, reflecting a constant fear amid President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration crackdown.
“The Halftime Show is the ultimate celebration of music and culture, and few artists embody that intersection more perfectly and authentically than Bad Bunny,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Music, Sports and Beats. “At Apple Music, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Bad Bunny over the years and watching his meteoric rise into one of the most influential artists of our time has been truly incredible. His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop-culture and we are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide. We know this show will be unforgettable.”
Tonight’s announcement caps off an outstanding month for NBC Sports. Earlier this month, NBC stated they have sold out their advertising slots ahead of the Big Game. Additionally, NBCU has also sold out 90 percent of its NFL inventory outside of the Super Bowl, before the season kicked off, according to AdWeek.
Apple Music’s multiyear partnership with the NFL and Roc Nation brings together the Super Bowl Halftime Show – the most-watched musical performance of the year – with Apple Music.
“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring,” said Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter. “We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”
