April 28: Garden of Hope Unity Awards & Dinner
NORFOLK
The Garden of Hope Community Development Corporation will host its annual Garden of Hope Unity Awards and Recognition Dinner on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center. The dinner begins at 7 p.m. and promises to provide an evening of entertainment and heartwarming presentations. WAVY 10 anchor Don Roberts will sere as the Master of Ceremony.
Each year, the Garden of Hope CDC identifies and recognizes individuals and organizations that are making a significant, positive impact in our community. The event is used to honor and recognize these individuals and/or organizations as well as raise fund for its various community programs.
One program the event supports is the KIP Care Program which takes a holistic approach providing services for the parents, the caregivers and the child(ren) of incarcerated persons. This year’s awards dinner brings attention to this very important program; honorees have made significant contributions to the community through grass roots activism, regional leadership and commerce, criminal and social justice, and humanitarianism and community service in the area of helping children.
The 2017 honorees include Anthony Daniels (Founder, K.L.E.A.N.); Karen Bailey (Mentor, Youth and Family Empowerment Services); Diedre Love (Director, Teens with a Purpose), Pat Orlestsky (Member, Azalea Church of God); and Dr. Shelton Murphy (Pastor, Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church).
