Join Amber Garrett for Project: Factions – This Is My Story™, a revolutionary multimedia recital coming to the Chrysler Museum of Art on March 1, 2025 1:30 p.m. This unique event intertwines the power of music and storytelling to amplify women’s voices, exploring the diverse tapestry of their experiences – the good, the bad, and the spicy.
Amber Garrett has performed internationally and has collaborated with noted opera organizations, to include Virginia Opera, Chautauqua Opera , Des Moines Metro Opera, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and The Chrysler Museum, just to name a few.
Her production Project: Factions™ blends classical, art song, and contemporary musical styles with candid interviews, featuring works by composers such as Florence Price, Jake Heggie, Puccini, and more. The performance creates a powerful and moving experience, offering insight into the strength, resilience, and diversity of women.
Beyond the performance, Project: Factions™ serves as a platform for empowerment. Attendees will have access to information and resources related to mental health support, healthcare support, business guidance, and community connections.
Organizations such as The Hampton Roads Care-A-Van, City of Norfolk Business Resource Center at The Slover , Free Mom Hugs, and Compassion & Healing Counseling will be there and ready to connect with recital goers. Also, a live artist will be Painting during the event.
Following the performance, a brief “Girlfriends Conversation” will take place. This moderated talk-back session will provide an opportunity for audience members to share their thoughts, feelings, and ask questions of some of the women featured in the recital. This communal processing experience aims to foster connection and understanding.
“Project: Factions™ is more than just a recital; it’s a transformative journey,” says Amber Garrett. “We wanted to create a space where women’s stories are heard and celebrated, and where we can connect as a community.”
