The Hampton University Pirates concluded their spring football practice with the annual Blue and White scrimmage game at Armstrong Field on Friday (April 1). Roughly fifty student-athletes participated in spring drills under the leadership of third-year head coach Connell Maynor. HU lost 20 players to graduation but will welcome a 2016 signing class of 21 freshmen this summer. At the end of the game, the Pirates huddled around Coach Maynor and listened to him dish out some tough love. “Go to study hall. Don’t miss the weight room or else!” said, Maynor. HU opens the 2016 season against Old Dominion on Labor Day Saturday in Norfolk at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
