Winston-Salem Wins CIAA Football Crown

The Winston-Salem State Rams rallied from a 14-point deficit and got a 23-yard field goal from kicker Will Johnson as time expired to score a 17-14 victory over Bowie State and win the 2015 CIAA football championship. The WSSU Rams (6-5) won their 3rd CIAA title in the last 5 years and the first under head coach Kienus Boulwarçe.

  WSSU QB Rod Tinsley, Jr., named the game’s Most-Valuable-Player, threw two touchdown passes and led the Rams to their final scoring drive  inside Bulldog territory which culminated in Will Johnson booting a 23-yard field goal to win the game. Bowie State suffered their first lost to a CIAA opponent after finishing 7-0 in the regular season.  BSU coach Damon Wilson was named the CIAA’s Coach of the Year. WSSU started the season 0-3 and finished as conference champion.
