Celebrating Culture and Family At Africana 2015

Virginia Beach
The Virginia Beach Oceanfront was the setting for the 3rd Annual Africana weekend Aug. 28-30. A cooperative weather pattern provided blue skies and sunshine and an occasion breeze for several thousand festival goers who enjoyed continuous entertainment from the 24th Street Stage during the day. At night, the State Farm Funk Fest beach party on the 23rd Funkfest Stage featured Con Funk Shun and the Zapp Band on Friday, and on Saturday night, Larry Graham. Vendors selling food and retail items lined the boardwalk, making for an entertaining celebration of family and culture. New Journal and Guide was the presenting sponsor for this year’s Africana.
