Social and Civic Whirl: Inaugural Scholarships Awarded By Chesapeake-Va. Beach Delta Foundation
Two Hampton Roads students Rebecca Johnson and Tyra Hendricks, were the recipients of the Chesapeake-Virginia Beach Delta Foundation (CVBDF) inaugural scholarships. According Do Deidre Eason, Chair of the CVBDF Board, “from the onset, we knew that one of the first initiatives, of the Delta Foundation, would be to give scholarships to deserving students. Rebecca Johnson is the first to receive the Foundation’s $750 Historically Black College and University Scholarship Award. Rebecca, who is a graduating senior at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach, is a deserving student with a 3.8 grade point average. Johnson plans to attend a premier HBCU – Howard University which is located in Washington, DC.
A graduating senior from Norfolk’s Granby High School, Tyra Hendricks who has accumulated a 4.15. Tyra is the recipient of the Delta Foundation’s Academic Scholarship in the amount of $750 for her outstanding prowess. Tyra Hendricks plans to matriculate at Old Dominion University.
