Marriner’s Moment: REconnecting With Our Inner Greatness – Part 4
By Pastor Melvin O. Marriner
Grove Church
Reconnecting with our inner greatness may require us to overcome some things. Last week we spoke about a few of those things: rejection, failure and criticism. Loss can also hinder us from reconnecting with our inner greatness. Each of us will experience some losses in life, but we must overcome them. Prayer, faith, and time help make loss bearable. It’s okay to grieve, but at some point, we have to be strong enough to pick ourselves up and get back in the game. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that, “The Lord is near to those who are broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
In the end, it is important to view ‘loss’ as a stepping stone to greatness, not a stumbling block. Some of our greatest achievements can come out of our deepest losses or pain. When we suffer losses, many of us learn to appreciate the value of life and the fact that it is such a precious gift. We learn not to waste time or dwell on unimportant or insignificant things. We learn to become better friends and encouragers, after we have suffered a while.
I pray that you will walk as if you know God’s promises are true; straighten your crown and push your way through to reconnect to your inner greatness!
Peace and power,
