Marriner’s Moment: REconnecting With Our Inner Greatness Part 1

By Pastor Melvin O. Marriner
Grove Church
“Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness…is largely a matter of conscious choice.”
~ James C. Collins —Author of “Good to Great: Why Good is the Enemy of Greatness.”
God has blessed each of us with gifts, talents, abilities that no one has but YOU! Some have been given extraordinary or tangible gifts for the world to see and embrace, while others have been given subtle, but meaningful gifts such as discernment, or uncanny gifts of encouragement or intercessory prayer. No matter what gift or talents we have been given, each of us has the potential for greatness. We also have a responsibility to tap into or reconnect with our inner greatness.
The world defines greatness differently than God does. Greatness is not always about being a superstar or celebrity, or having power and prestige. God measures greatness in terms of service, not status or titles. Mark 10:43 reads, “Whoever wants to be great must become a servant” (MSG). There is a saying, ‘use it or lose it,’ which is a forewarning that if we do not tap into our inner greatness, we lose the potential to do so. Have you known individuals who had the potential to be great at something but because of their mindset, fear, circumstances or lack of initiative, fell short of their potential? Don’t waste your God-given potential. I encourage you to pray and ask God for guidance as you explore and reconnect to your inner greatness!
Peace and power,
