Morris Day & the Time, the popular ‘80s funk group started by Prince, headlined the 39th Annual Norfolk Harborfest Saturday night (June 6) at Town Point Park.
Harborfest celebrates Norfolk’s seafaring heritage and is the largest, longest running free maritime festival in the nation. Harborfest weekend, June 5-7, included tall ships, local and regional musical artists, crafts, family activities, and the largest fireworks show on the East Coast.
Morris Day entertained the crowd with his smooth dance moves and hip vocals. He told the large audience gathered for the free concert that he has influenced some of the top performers in the music industry, including popular R&B singer Bruno Mars, who is currently riding high on the Billboard charts with the hit “Uptown Funk.”
