Black History Gospel Praise Concert In Portsmouth
Rev. Brenda Boone-Smith Productions & Higher Praise Community Choir held its annual Black History Gospel Praise Celebration at the Village Church in Portsmouth on Sunday (Feb 25).

PORTSMOUTH
Rev. Brenda Boone-Smith Productions & Higher Praise Community Choir held its annual Black History Gospel Praise Celebration at the Village Church in Portsmouth on Sunday (Feb 25). Singer Frankie Davis, 1st tenor of the Golden Gate Quartet, was publicly presented a Gold LP Album for his work with the Original Soul Stirrers. Rev. Brenda Boone-Smith also presented Davis with a citation of recognition from the city council of Suffolk. Rev. Boone-Smith credited councilman Lue Ward with helping to secure the award.
Frankie Davis thanked the audience for their support over the years. Davis co-headlined the nearly sold-out concert along with Rev. Luther Barnes and the Sunset Jubilaires and Rev. Thomas Spann and the Brooklyn All Stars. Other artists who performed included Rev. Brenda Boone-Smith and the Higher Praise Community Choir, the Gospel Travelers, Amelia Sears Goodman of Chesapeake, Danny Hill & Group Determination, Van Jones & King David’s Harp, Elder Ronald Harper & the Harmonizing Echoes, and the Word Singers.
Gospel radio personalities Bro. Donald Eason, Steven Alexander, and Minister Gee served as the concert’s MCs. Rev. Brenda Boone-Smith thanked the New Journal & Guide for covering this event for the gospel music community of Hampton Roads.
