200+ Men To Honor Navy’s 1st Black SEAL At Special Presentation Event
The 200+ Men Foundation will host a special presentation to the family of the late William “Bill” Goines, the first African-American Navy SEAL, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Y.H. Thomas Community Center, located at 1300 Thomas Street, Hampton, VA 23669. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

The 200+ Men Foundation will host a special presentation to the family of the late William “Bill” Goines, the first African-American Navy SEAL, on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Y.H. The 200+ Men will celebrate the life and legacy of William Harvey Goines, a trailblazer whose service, leadership, and dedication to the community continue to inspire generations. During the presentation, the Foundation will honor Goines’ remarkable contributions and formally recognize the establishment of the The 200+ Men Foundation William Harvey Goines Scholarship Fund, a scholarship initiative designed to assist African-American males from Hampton Roads schools in pursuing higher education.
The program will feature remarks from community leaders, members of the The 200+ Men Foundation, family and individuals who knew and admired Goines.
“We are thrilled to invite the Hampton Roads community to join us in celebrating the life of a true hero,” said James Gray, President. “Bill Goines embodied perseverance, excellence, and service. This event is an opportunity for all of us to come together to honor his remarkable legacy and look forward to the positive impact the Scholars Fund will have on our youth.”
